Our client is looking for a capable and competent Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on a 1-year maternity leave contract beginning in September. Reporting to their Financial Controller, the ideal candidate will have prior experience in a high-volume A/P role, as well as strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize. The main responsibilities include:
- Pay vendors by scheduling cheque runs and EFT’s
- Track all payments and expenditures, ensuring all coding and approval is correct before inputting to the accounting system
- Research, resolve, and respond to vendor and invoice discrepancies
- Maintain vendor database, updating records as necessary
- Verify employee expense reports and prepare expense reimbursement cheques
- Ad hoc duties as required
Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong English communication skills – oral and written
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Prior experience with QuickBooks and/or Maestro would be an asset
