Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing Purchase Orders, Vendor invoicing and Company expenses. Key duties and responsibilities of an Accounts Payable Specialist include:
- Managing accounts payable using our accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop) and BMO On-Line Banking
- Handling/Coding accounts payable for separate departments and vendors
- Analyzing workflow processes for potential improvements
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors (increasing credit limits and terms)
- Ensuring bills and Contractors are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
- Processing due invoices for payments
- Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges
- Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling statements
- Credit card charges and payments
- Vendor credit applications
- All calls & emails payables related.
Key Competencies and Education
- Competency with QuickBooks, Excel and Word
- Basic data entry skills
- Comfortable with math and calculations
- Good listening and communication skills
- Attention to detail
Successful Candidates will have
The right person for this role should have at least 3 years of experience in accounting. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software (QuickBooks) is necessary. An understanding of current accounting trends is a plus. Medium-Level knowledge of spreadsheets is crucial, and experience with word processing tools is essential for generating and writing reports for record-keeping and presentations. Since the candidate will be working with entries, experience with general ledgers is a must.
Reporting
The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and have a dotted line responsibility to the Controller for training and auditing purposes.
Hours of Work
Monday-Friday 7;30am-4:00PM
Vacation
2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 5 years and 4 weeks after 10years
Performance Reviews
Initial review at 3months, then annually.
