Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Guelph, ON
Salary: $60,000 + Company benefits from Day 1 + RRSP match
Report to: Controller
Work Schedule: Full time in office
Company Overview Our client is a well-established company with a strong reputation in manufacturing. They are currently expanding and seeking a dedicated Accounts Payable Specialist to join their dynamic team.
Position Summary Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist will manage the day-to-day, month-end, and year-end aspects of the accounts payable activities across various divisions. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth processing of payments.
Focus of the Role
- Complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
- Ensure accurate data entry, proper expense accounting, and timely payment and filing of paperwork.
- Prepare and process accounts payable invoices and payments to guarantee timely and accurate disbursements.
- Resolve purchasing and receiving issues in collaboration with relevant personnel.
- Work with vendors to resolve disputes and ensure uninterrupted services.
- Provide support for accounts payable and related accounting inquiries and maintain vendor files.
- Prepare documents and apply credits for non-conforming materials using quality management systems.
- Maintain the accrual list and complete month-end reconciliations for accounts payable.
- Prepare month-end accruals and support other month-end duties as required.
- Offer accounting and administrative support to the Controller for month-end and year-end activities.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma with some post-secondary education, preferably focused on bookkeeping or accounting.
Skill Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in using computerized ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-driven with a focus on independent problem-solving and issue resolution.
