Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing costs associated with our products and services. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost management.
Duties
- Prepare and analyze cost reports to provide insights into product profitability.
- Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring accurate valuation of stock.
- Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of all cost-related transactions and adjustments.
- Support month-end closing processes by preparing journal entries related to costs.
- Provide financial data for decision-making purposes to management.
Skills
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems is a plus.
- A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or CMA certification is advantageous.
