Overview:
For over 37 years, LAING has delivered top-tier building envelope services, including roofing, sheet metal, waterproofing, and wall system installations for commercial, industrial, and large-scale residential projects across Western Canada. We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist in the Okanagan to manage full-cycle payroll and support our finance department at the Kelowna office and service branch.

Responsibilities:
- Employee Records: Maintain payroll-related records for approx. 100+ team members.
- Payroll Processing: Conduct weekly review and processing of electronic timesheets, allocating hours to project costing.
- Full-Cycle Payroll: Prepare and process payroll using internal software, including employee deductions, reconciliations, and year-end tasks (ROEs, T4s, vacation accruals).
- Compliance & Remittances: Prepare and submit CRA remittances, WorkSafe BC, EHT, and other payroll-related filings.
- Communication: Oversee payroll-related correspondence internally and externally, ensuring timely updates and clarity for employees.
- Employee Programs: Manage and reconcile RRSPs, school incentives, benefits, and all expense agreements and deductions.
- Financial Support: Assist with finance tasks, including payroll account reconciliation and financial processing as required.
Skills & Requirements:
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills and ability to optimize processes.
- Communication Skills: Strong listening, interpersonal, and decision-making abilities, with the judgment to inform the leadership team as needed.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Sage Accounting (100 Contractor), and experience with cloud-based tools like HH2 time tracking is a plus.
- Experience & Education: 3-5 years in full-cycle payroll; payroll certification or equivalent education preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with BC employment and payroll standards; construction industry experience is an asset.
- Professionalism: High energy, discretion, and a positive attitude in a deadline-driven environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $60,000 - $78,000 annually (pro-rated based on 4 days/week), based on experience.
