The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join their finance team on a 3-month contract in Victoria, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the accounts payable (AP) process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a key transition period and provide expertise in AP functions.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage full-cycle AP, including reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices in a timely manner
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and government regulations for all AP transactions
- Prepare and execute payments via cheques, electronic funds transfers (EFTs), and wire transfers
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable
- Maintain and build strong relationships with vendors, ensuring timely resolution of any issues
- Respond to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally
- Monitor and manage vendor accounts, ensuring timely payments and dispute resolution
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline AP operations and increase efficiency
- Provide support and expertise to the finance team during a transition period
What We Need From You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- CPA designation is a plus
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in accounts payable, preferably in a consulting or contract role
- Proficiency in AP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
