Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversees all financial accounting, management and reporting aspects of actual results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Works closely with the FP&A team, payroll staff and departmental staff throughout BCI to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all transactions, actual results, financial information, and reports.
- Oversees accounts payable and expense management processes including credit cards and employee-initiated expenses and reimbursements.
- Oversees accounts receivable processes, including working closely with the cost recovery team.
- Oversees treasury function and cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
- Supervises and manages corporate accounting senior analysts and analysts.
- Maintains and documents corporate accounting processes, procedures, and Finance directives.
- Works closely with the Tax branch to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory tax matters.
- Delivers various reports and analysis to interpret or communicate actual financial results to various audiences (board, management, budget, and project owners)
- Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies and participates in business continuity planning.
- Acts as Director, Corporate Accounting during short term absences
- Leads or co-leads corporate accounting projects that address the business needs of the branch, department, and corporation.
- Completes other tasks as required by the Corporate Accounting branch or Finance Department
Qualifications:
Must have:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA)
- 7+ years of experience with at least 4 years specific to accounting/finance technical areas and 2 years experience in management or supervisory role
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing a high performing team.
- Strong conceptual and technical understanding of IFRS
- Knowledge of all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and financial practices, and procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop efficient and effective automated work processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy and completeness when reporting financial information.
- Experience interacting with internal senior management and external advisors/auditors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication at both the technical and strategic level
- A demonstrated track record of achieving results in a complex business environment working across a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
Experience with an ERP system implementation.
