Position Summary
The Miramar Group owns and operates five Home Hardware Building Centre’s located in BC, Alberta and the Yukon, with our Service Centre / Head Office in Victoria, BC. We are looking for a full-time experienced Accounts Payable professional to join our team. Working closely with our Head Office finance team, you will directly work with our stores to ensure that invoices and employee expenditures are coded and appropriately approved, before being processed to the proper entity within our accounting system. While focusing on accounts payable, you will also support the monthly reconciliation of vendor statements, and other accounting functions. While we strongly support work-life balance, this is an in-office position.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Code and process a high volume of incoming invoices, efficiently and accurately.
- Monitor vendor statements and follow-up on missing invoices.
- Initiate payments (cheque, credit card).
- Review and respond to queries on a daily basis.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including expense analysis explanations.
- General office duties, answering phones, as required.
- Assisting the finance team, as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Previous accounts payable experience required.
- Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Comfortable in a fast paced and high-volume office, but also loves to find fun in everyday tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, aptitude for working with numerical information.
- Fast & accurate data entry skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task, including escalating when appropriate.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Strong Excel skills a definite asset.
