Assistant Bookkeeper
Job Description
Assistant bookkeeper handles the details of the company’s financial transactions, keeping accurate records and ensuring that payments are processed. A typical day of work includes processing invoices, filing tax forms, and making bank deposits from inside the office, with occasional trips outside. This position is full time, under the supervision of our bookkeeper. While the job is entry level, assistant bookkeepers juggle several tasks and learn on their feet, dealing not only with numbers but also administrative tasks and customer and vendor interactions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Day-to-Day Payments
Process accounts receivable and payable, which includes regularly creating invoices, making bank deposits, producing checks, and preparing wire transfers. Work with the bookkeeper to ensure that clients are billed properly and vendors receive correct payment.
Record Monetary Transactions
Track and monitor financial transactions, noting important details and integrating this information into the company’s records on a daily basis. This often involves meticulous data entry using accounting software.
Process the Payroll
Help with payroll processing, which covers employee timekeeping, payroll balancing and distribution, and overall checking for accuracy.
Handle Bank Reconciliations
Assist with bank reconciliations to check if a company’s financial records match up with the corresponding bank statement.
Perform Administrative Duties
Organizing data and dealing with paperwork. Photocopying or scanning documents, keeping the company’s filing system organized, and buying supplies.
Provide administrative support to all departments, data entry and data maintenance as needed.
Education and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 2yrs Previous bookkeeping experience
