Position Summary
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting department activities from some data entry through assisting with the preparation of quarterly financial statements. The ideal candidate will have capability to handle routine, day-to-day workflows and a desire to grow into taking on more involvement in monthly/quarterly reporting, forecasting and compliance.
Responsibilities
Prepare and enter recurring monthly and quarterly journal entries, such as:
- prepaid expense allocations
- property and equipment amortization
- accruals
- AR invoicing and clearing intercompany accounts
- PST & GST remittances
Review output of invoice and payment batches from the Accounts Payable department
Prepare & enter payroll bank and job costing GL entry into the accounting system
Review and reconcile intercompany and clearing accounts
Quarterly financial statement and working paper preparation
Preparation and update of monthly reports including:
- Project cost reports
- Budgets and forecasts
- Cash flow and working capital
Other duties as required
Skills/Qualifications
- CPA designate (or candidate) with 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar role.
- Experience working with Sage 300 and CaseWare would be an asset. Advanced Excel knowledge, other MS Office programs (Word, SharePoint, Teams).
- Thorough understanding of accounting and concepts (IFRS, GST, PST).
