The Opportunity:
We have an immediate need for a Senior Treasury Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist who will be in our Toronto office. This offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to assume responsibility for all aspects of the cash management and accounts payable functions. Responsible for providing leadership and execution to ensure designated cash processing, reconciliation and reporting functions are completed in a timely manner.
As this is a new role in the organization, the job description contains the general scope of work anticipated. However, the role may evolve based on company requirements. The role is anticipated to be dynamic and will require an individual who consistently strives for excellence, has a strong work ethic, and takes ownership of their accountabilities.
Day to Day Responsibilities Include:
Treasury responsibilities:
• Self-manage the cash operations to include:
o Daily monitoring of cash accounts, applying payments, posting bank charges, ensuring payable dates are accurate.
o Daily preparation of wires and bank transfers (approximately 50+ per month)
o Manage and prepare the cap call process.
o Manage and prepare the distribution process.
o Prepare documentation for new accounts.
o Manage and pay all interest payments to various outside and related parties on non-conventional loans.
o Pay HST returns by online banking.
o Timely reconciliation of cash applications and disbursements
o Ensure recurring monthly payables are paid by deadlines.
o Other duties as assigned within the spirit and scope of cash management.
Accounts payable responsibilities:
• Monitor daily “vendor café” in Yardi, and, the A/P email, for invoices.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and review for accuracy and completeness.
• Push for approvals to Property Managers and others.
• Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
• Perform cheque runs.
• Co-ordinate payments for wiring
• Ensure payments are made in the correct payment period.
• Process expense reports.
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
• Provide supporting documentation for audits.
• Other duties as assigned within the spirit and scope of cash management.
The ideal candidate will have the following accreditations and experience:
• Five to seven (5-7) years of work experience in accounts payable or in an accounting related field.
• Experience in the real estate development and property management industry is a significant asset.
• Familiarity with bank cash management systems.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets is required.
• Experience in Yardi Voyager is considered an asset.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn and master various computer systems.
