Position Summary: Reporting to the VP of Finance and Operations, the General Accountant supports JUMP Math’s Finance and Administration efforts and plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records that are the foundation of JUMP Math’s business operations. The General Accountant administers the accounting systems and prepare financial information for various grants and departments within the organization, and works with the team to assist with day-to-day office administration including department documentation, organizing electronic files, and tracking department regulatory schedules etc.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours/week) 6-month contract role with no benefits.
Location of Work: This role is based in the Greater Toronto Area head office and is a hybrid role with meetings in person and virtually.
Salary Range: 52,000 - $57,000 based on experience

Key Accountabilities:
- Record and managed all financial transactions for accuracy and ensuring that accounting records are up to date with guidance from the Accounting Manager
- Prepare financial reports for various projects based on standard accounting practices
- Prepare EFT and cheques for signature and manage the accounts payable process by ensuring that all accounting policies are followed including vendor management, invoice approvals and authorization by signing thresholds.
- Manage accounts receivable, including preparing Aging reports, collecting overdue payments and identifying potential risks of non-payment.
- Prepare and issue invoices and follow up on late accounts in accordance with established procedures with guidance from the Accounting Manager
- Maintain records of all financial activities, grant agreements and other contract documents by proper filing for both papers and electronically.
- Assist in the preparation of audit documents and the production of financial statements, budgets, and other financial projects.
- Assist with department documentation, preparing operations manuals, the preparation of contracts and agreements (i.e., new hire contracts, vendor agreements, etc.)
- Prepare department schedules, tracking deadlines, regulatory and reporting schedules (and project timeframes)
- Assist with providing corporate administrative support such as purchasing, facility management, ordering of office supplies, and procurement of other goods and services
- Perform other administrative duties as required
Skills:

- MS Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Database etc.
- QuickBooks or similar ERP familiarity
- Ability to interpret financial data and draw conclusions from it.

Education and Experience (minimums):
- A bachelor’s degree in business or related area is desirable
- A post-secondary diploma or certificate; or equivalent experience is a must.
- 1-2 years of previous bookkeeping experience
- Experience with customer service, and performing administrative tasks
