Junior Accountant

Job Purpose:
The Junior Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for recording and reconciling day-to-day and monthly financial operations within the various companies under The Truffles Group. You will contribute to and work alongside a passionate team of finance and accounting professionals, supporting an exciting and growing group of businesses.
Compensation: Salary range of $50,000 - $55,000 per annum.
Position Details: Permanent, Full-time. Working hours will generally occur from Monday to Friday. The hours of work may vary and may be irregular and will be those hours necessary to meet the requirements of the job. This is an on-site position at our beautiful office is in Vic West, conveniently located close to Galloping Goose.

Key Responsibilities
- Posts and processes journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
- Reviews expenses, payroll records, and other financial documents as assigned
- Updates financial data in databases to ensure that information is accurate and will be immediately available when needed
- Prepares and submits weekly / monthly reports
- Assists in the preparation of monthly / yearly closings
- Records totals for sales and performs payment reconciliations
- Manages and maintains daily cash flow; orders cash from banks as necessary and prepares bank deposits
- Updates accounts receivable and issues invoices
- Remits monthly / quarterly required filings including PST, GST, WCB and payroll taxes
- Reconciles bank accounts
- Posts accounts payable and performs regular payment runs
- Updates accounts payable and performs reconciliations
- Manages and reconciles monthly credit card balances for the businesses
- Performs analysis on financial results as directed by the Controller
- Monitors, develops, and enforces financial procedures and internal controls
- Complies with financial regulations, GAAP, and legislation
- Assists with tax audits and year-end preparation for external accountants
- Liaises with the businesses to facilitate communication and efficiencies
- Performs such other duties as are customarily performed by one holding the position of an Accountant in businesses that are similar to The Truffles Group, and
- Performs such other and unrelated duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Employer.
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
- Accounting diploma or equivalent; accounting designation considered an asset
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive “can do” attitude working collaboratively in a team environment
- Excels in a collaborative environment and the ability to form strong working relationships
- Computer skills - intermediate Excel and Outlook and basic Word; experience with Simply Accounting considered an asset
- Accounting experience in the F&B and retail industries considered an asset
- Experience working in a multi-company setting considered an asset
