Position summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant is responsible for the support and execution of administrative and financial tasks of HeavyAero Maintenance Centre in Calgary, Alberta. This includes input and reconciliation of invoicing, payables, time and progress, and any other area related to the financials of HeavyAero Maintenance Centre. They will act as the eyes of the projects currently ongoing within the aviation hangar and ensure that financials balance and are on track for projects and inventory.
Roles and responsibilities
Planning
- Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
- Develop financial strategies
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes for tooling and grants
- Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
- Cash flow management for upcoming projects and current business needs
Operations
- Participate in key decisions regarding process and procedure as a member of the financial team
- Maintain strong relations with all members of the finance team
- Support third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced as applicable
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems and ensure they are up to date and current
- Suggest improvements to process or organization within the finance department
- Building, managing and presenting Customer Financial Report (proforma invoice)
- Purchasing and stores financial support and management
- Accounts Receivables management and customer follow-up
- Supporting and approving bill payments
- Building Customer Invoices
- Processing of payroll
- Payroll functions
Financial Information
- Oversee the issuance of financial information as per the direction of the CFO or Controller
- Report financial information to the CFO/Managing Director as per requests on projects
- Provide support to Controller regarding reporting, exporting, and input of records
Third Parties
- Participate in conference calls with the HeavyAero team as required
- Maintain banking relationships and represent the Controller, CFO and Managing Director as requested
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the books and records of the entity are kept in accordance with GAAP
- Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
- Design, implement and maintain client monthly / quarterly / annual reporting
- Maintain regular contact and build solid working relationships with the Operations personnel by providing necessary financial information and support
- Ensure evolving Operations requirements are anticipated and integrated into the accounting and finance processes
- Provide information and assist the financial consolidation process as required
- Actively participating in the HeavyAero Safety Management System and Quality Assurance program
- Respect and uphold all the Company policies, procedures & performance expectations
- Supporting CFO and Controller as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience in general industry.
- Advanced competencies in accounting standards (ASPE / IFRS), finance, audit, and design, implementation, and presentation of advanced financial and business reporting
- Experience in project management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable are beneficial
- QuickBooks Online Advanced Experience is preferred
- Experience in payroll and payroll software
- Keen attention to detail
- Able to problem solve and provide creative solutions

- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Communicating in a variety of formats and with confidence in internal and external meetings and group presentation settings

- Highly self-motivated with outgoing personality and a desire to contribute to the strategic and financial success of the organization
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines and deliverables
- Computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Application

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Working conditions and physical effort
- Work may involve minimal exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust & fumes & minimal physical risks such as walking around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards in aircraft hangars
- Must be able to meet the physical tasks of the job
- Must be able to see, hear and properly communicate with others

Pay: $80,000.00-$91,491.15 per year
