Position Overview: We’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Controller, who will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reports: You provide sales and expense analyses, highlighting potential problem areas and opportunities for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.
- Financial Statements: Monthly, you prepare a complete financial statement according to company guidelines and within each manufacturer’s format and time frame.
- Manufacturer Accounts: You ensure that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection, and co-op advertising, are current and accurate.
- Trend Analysis: Regularly interpret the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) to inform the company of developing trends.
- Forecasting: Participate in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the company.
- Management Reports: Provide detailed financial and management reports to department managers.
- Cash Management: Maintain an effective cash management system, forecasting cash funds, and recommending profitable use of excess cash.
- Depreciation Assessment: Direct assessment of depreciation rates for capital assets.
- General Ledger Oversight: Review the general ledger, scheduled accounts, and investigate any unusual entries.
- Bank Reconciliation: Ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable.
- Tax Compliance: Stay informed about tax code revisions and advise the company on operational adjustments needed.
- Government Regulations: Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including payroll taxes, income taxes, and retirement plan records.
- Computer System Management: Maximize utilization of the company computer system.
- Insurance Management: Administer insurance renewals, purchase property and liability insurance, and process insurance claims.
- Audit and Inventory: Coordinate annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
- Data Integrity: Continually improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the company.
- Professionalism: Attend managers’ meetings and maintain a professional appearance.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferably with a CPA designation.
- Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Familiarity with dealership operations would be a significant asset.
