Position Title: Senior Bookkeeper

Position Summary:

The Senior Bookkeeper at CDC Bookkeeping is a key role, responsible for independently managing complex client accounts, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality financial services. This position requires advanced bookkeeping skills, the ability to work autonomously, and strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple clients effectively. The Senior Bookkeeper also plays a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding Junior and Enhanced Junior Bookkeepers, helping to foster growth and development across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Bookkeeping and Client Management
- Independently manage full-cycle bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients, including complex reconciliations, adjustments, and multi-entity accounts.
- Handle client accounts with minimal supervision, proactively identifying and addressing client needs, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Develop customized bookkeeping solutions tailored to individual client requirements and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Client Communication and Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring timely responses, clear communication, and a proactive approach to client inquiries.
- Provide clients with insights into their financial data, offering recommendations to support financial decision-making.
Autonomy and Deadline Management
- Schedule and prioritize daily tasks to meet client deadlines, balancing multiple projects while ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end processes.
- Maintain a high level of organization in tracking client files, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring that all commitments are met.
Mentorship and Training
- Mentor Junior and Enhanced Junior Bookkeepers, offering guidance on bookkeeping practices, client communications, and best practices for efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide constructive feedback and help junior team members develop their skills, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Lead by example in maintaining CDC’s high standards for client service, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare detailed financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, customized for client needs.
- Conduct year-end preparations and provide data to external accountants as needed for tax preparation and other reporting requirements.
Process Improvement and Strategic Initiatives
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within client files and internal operations, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in strategic initiatives to improve CDC’s bookkeeping processes, contributing ideas and insights from client interactions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; bookkeeping certification is an asset.
- Experience: 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, with a proven ability to manage complex accounts and provide client-facing services.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with other accounting software.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
- Analytical Skills: Skilled in identifying financial trends, resolving discrepancies, and applying a strategic approach to bookkeeping.
