Overview
The Controller at Badanai Motors Ltd. is a key member of the dealership's leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring accuracy and integrity of all accounting processes. this role requires highly organized, detail-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of dealership operations and financial management.
Duties
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts recieveable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, reports, and budgets for dealership management and owneship
- Monitor dealership financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Compliance and Audits
- Ensure compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal tax regulations, as well as dealership policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage audits (internal and external) and address audit findings promptly.
- Maintain compliance with manufacturer financial reporting requirements and other contractual obligations
Leadership and Supervision
- supervise the accounting and administrative staff, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations
- Establish internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure efficient workflow
- Collaborate with department managers (sales, service, parts and bodyshop etc.) to align financial practices with operational goals
Cost Control and Ananlysis
- Monitor expenses and recommend cost-saving strategies without compromising operational goals
- Oversee inventory management, including vehicle inventory reconciliation, floorplan audits, and parts inventory oversight
- Assist in the development and implementation of of dealership financial policies and strategic plans
Technology and Systems Management
- Manage dealership management system (DMS) to ensure accurate data and reporting
- Work with IT and software vendors to optimize accounting processes and resolve system-related issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (CPA designation preferred but not required)
5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an automotive dealership environment
- Proficiency with dealership management software and advanced Excel skills preferred but not required
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proven track record of managing teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of dealership operations, financial metrics, and compliance requirements, this is an asset but not a requirement.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience, starting range, $95000 to $115000 per year dependant on experience
