Summary
This role will appeal to a collaborative, outgoing, individual, motivated to play a key role in taking Design Electronics through its next phase of growth and development. Reporting to the Integrator based in our Niagara Office, the Financial Assistant will provide comprehensive financial support to departments, covering budget preparation, maintenance and reporting, variance analysis, forecasting, rates and fees, and procurement, ensuring alignment with business goals and corporate strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping
• Maintain accurate financial records and transactions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage general ledger accounts.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Process vendor invoices and customer collections.
- Reconcile accounts payable/receivable.
- Monitor cash flow.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Prepare and analyze department/project budgets.
- Forecast revenues and expenses.
- Monitor performance vs. budget and suggest cost-saving measures.
Cost Accounting
- Analyze costs, profitability, and cost variance.
- Allocate admin costs and manage inventory compliance.
Fixed Asset Management
• Track and record fixed assets and depreciation.
- Perform asset valuation and inventory checks.
Compliance
- Ensure financial regulatory compliance.
- Stay updated on accounting standards and coordinate audits.
Software and Technology Management
- Use accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, CW).
- Integrate financial systems with business operations
What can you bring us?
- College or university education in General Accounting program.
- Working towards CPP/CPA would be an asset but not essential.
- Experience in inventory analysis an asset.
- 1-3 years Accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems; proven experience in workflow process and day to day business activities that are part of an ERP system.
- Experience in the AV integration industry is beneficial; and/or solid understanding of product knowledge; product research is key to this role.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, outgoing and can maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal customers
- Well organized with attention to detail and ability to prioritize time sensitive activities
- Highly motivated to learn and grow, both personally and professionally.
