Harbour City Homes (www.harbourcityhomes.org) is a non-profit housing society with a mandate to provide safe, affordable living accommodations to those of low to moderate incomes within the City of Halifax. We are currently seeking a Property Management Accountant/Administrator to join our enthusiastic and hard-working team.
The role of the Property Management Accountant/Administrator at Harbour City Homes requires high energy and a commitment to exceed expectations of our residents, customers and vendors. The ideal candidate will be proactive in anticipating and exceeding expectations in all areas of this role.
Responsibilities:
- Full knowledge and posting of accounting cycle
- Perform quarterly and year-end closings of general ledger.
- Job Costing (Track unit renovations)
- Monthly Financial Statement Preparation
- Prepare monthly vacancy report
- Prepare/Complete bank reconciliations
- Work with the General manager and rental manager with respect to rental arrears/collections.
- Monitor property cash needs and prepare expense funding requests as needed
- Interface with the management team with various ad hoc requests.
- Responsible for Cash Management, work directly with banks/financial institutions
- Other special projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting
- At least 3 years’ experience in the property management field.
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision to complete accounting projects successfully.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel; Sage 50; and Landlord Max (Cloud Edition)
- Knowledge of the NS Residential Tenancy Act an asset
- Familiarity with Metro Regional Housing’s Rental Supplement Program while not essential would be an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (Oral/Written)
