The Accounting Clerk will play a key role within the Finance Team as well as supporting the other general accounting functions in SAP. Responsible for AR and General Finance and reporting to the Controller. This position will be based out of our Dartmouth head office and operate within our hybrid model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Accounts Receivable Functions
Receive and apply various customer payments on a daily basis, including but not limited to:
- Cheques
- Credit Cards
- Wires & EFT payments
- Analyze and resolve customer payment discrepancies
- Process deductions and credit notes in AR module of SAP ensuring they are allocated appropriately between different brands for accurate reporting
Responsible for the Coop program:
- Prepare credit notes for customer advertising
- Coordinate with the Sales team the completion of coop forms
- Determine month end and yearend accruals
- Work with Sales team to ensure all coop is received and coded
- Releasing of customer orders on a timely basis
- Process and distribute customer account statements
- Analyzing accounts past due balances and manage account aging
- Tracking and collecting on the Contract Manufacturing Customer Receivables. Ensure that payments are received before production run
- Coordinate the billing for the Optometry groups monthly
- Other duties as assigned
Assist with General Accounting Functions
- Prepare and post month end journal entries and accruals in SAP
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet and income statement account reviews monthly, including but not limited to:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Credit Card Suspense
- Bank Reconciliations
- Accrued Expenses
- Prepaid expenses
- Fixed Assets
- Support month end, year end and annual audit activities
- Assist with Compliance Program reporting
- Provide Backup for Accounts Payable and other Duties as required within the department
- Other projects as assigned
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong analytical and data management skills – strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid organizational skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a Business/Commerce Degree or 1-3 years of general accounting experience with a diploma in Business Administration
- Having experience in Accounts Receivable/ Collections is an asset
- Demonstrated familiarity with working in WMS/ERP programs. Knowing SAP/ Great Plains are both assets
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
