Director, Billing - Vaughan ON - 3 days in office | 2 days work from home
ROLE
Reporting directly to the VP Billing Operations and Revenue Assurance, the Director of Billing is responsible for providing leadership and accountability for all day-to-day operations within the Onboarding and Billing Departments. The Director of Billing will oversee process development and refinement related to setting up and billing customers for their monthly consumption. The Director of Billing will be the primary contact for our Billing and Metering software vendors, championing system enhancements to improve billing efficiencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Accountable for billing and metering systems are operating efficiently and accurately ensuring bills are issued in a timely manner and within OEB Sub-Metering Code guidelines
- Responsible for technology decisions regarding third-party utility billing and meter-reading software
- Investigate billing, metering and service discrepancies, and ensure they are rectified prior to billing
- Ensure customer portals are providing the information necessary for customers to pay their bills and review their consumption history
- Responsible for implementing billing plans in a timely fashion by collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Responsible for reporting functions related to Customer Onboarding and Billing, and assisting the VP of Billing Operations in managing reporting functions related to Revenue Assurance as needed
- Resolve customer complaints including those directed from the OEB
- Participate in client meetings, as requested by Sales, to provide insight to the onboarding process and develop the client relationship
- Responsible for communicating effectively and professionally with clients and internal partners on a regular basis, in a collaborative and proactive manner
- Represent billing leadership in strategic initiatives, including system implementation, upgrade, and integration projects
REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in Business Administration or Information Technology or related field
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience combined in utility administration, customer service with at least 5 years of experience managing a team
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in accounts receivable accounting
- Familiar with utility billing and meter data management systems
- Knowledge of the OEB Sub-Metering Code would be an asset
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics GP would be an asset
- Excellent customer services skills
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with an ability to motivate direct reports
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work in and promote a collaborative team environment
- Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
