Job Overview
VIBE provides property management services for housing-co-operatives. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team in Victoria, BC. The Bookkeeper provides the financial, administrative, and transaction support required for our co-op clients. This includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of accurate records and files, processing of payments, collection of housing charges, maintaining the general ledger, retention of related source documents, monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations and financial reports. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
Responsibilities
- Assist with year-end reconciliations and liaise with external accountants, including auditors
- Prepare monthly financial statements with schedules and evidenced reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts for each entity and client
- Maintain a set of working papers for each entity and client
- AP transactions, including invoice entry, review, reconciliation, and payable follow-up
- AR transactions, including invoice entry, review, reconciliation, and receivables follow-up
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
- Assist with budget development and financial analysis.
Skills, Experience and Education
- Property management bookkeeping is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, including bank reconciliation, account analysis, and accounts payable processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and/or Sage.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes is a plus but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or bookkeeping, certificate in accounting or bookkeeping, or relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Time spent in the co-op/affordable housing sector or finance industry is considered an asset.
- Driver’s license and personal vehicle
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
