We are currently looking for an Collections Specialist at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON
The VGCA Accounting Shared Services Centre provides essential back office accounting functions for General Ledger, Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Affiliates, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets for multiple VW group companies including Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, factory production, and electric vehicle infrastructure.
The VGCA Accounting Shared Service Centre Collection Specialist position ensures the timely collection of all non-affiliated group company for VGCA, ACI, VWGoA and AoA. This position also ensures the accurate billing of all non-payroll deducted vehicle lease charges, inclusive of all employees on leave, retired or terminated, in accordance with established terms of sale and corporate objectives, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for all incoming payment application and clearing within each period (cheques, wire, EFTs)
- Manage assigned incoming payment clearing accounts to ensure that items are allocated in a timely manner.
- Research unidentified payments and escalate aging to ensure timely resolution.
- Process ACH collection system job runs as per the agreed upon timeline.
- Manage ACH returns and associated clearing transactions.
- Perform collection follow ups on assigned accounts, ensuring the escalation process is adhered to and associated risk is managed appropriately.
- Collaborate with corporate vehicle services to assess risk to employee/ retiree lease vehicles and align on collection effort.
- Record bad debt reserves as per the agreed upon process and manage write offs in accordance with company policy.
- Complete assigned reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, managing any aging in excess of 90 days with escalation process.
- Support HR, Payroll and Vehicle services team with ongoing process improvement efforts to ensure seamless process transitions between Accounting and Payroll
- Ensure all system interfaces for employee lease billings are complete and accurate.
- Ensure that all templates, desk procedures, and process documentation is prepared, tested and maintained
- Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement, thus always striving for automated, error free and efficient processes.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- College degree in accounting and/ or minimum 5 + years of experience in AR department within large organization
- Financial/ accounting experience, with proven ability to reconcile large and complex accounts. Experience with collections considered an asset.
- Ability to self-prioritize - Ability to manage high volume of transactions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to take complexity out of situations and demonstrate a “feel for the numbers”.
- Proven ability to work under pressure.
- Team player and entrepreneurial mindset.
- SAP experience is an asset.
