Job description
We are hiring bookkeepers to join and grow within our team. As a member of the PTMG team, you will be working directly with our firm partners, staff and clients to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate has exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills. We are looking for people who can grow into a leadership role, who will mentor other team members and is looking for a challenging professional position with the opportunity to progress within our firm.
Role and responsibilities (bookkeeping technician)
- Data entry of client records in accounting software in anticipation of filing deadlines, such as corporate and personal tax filings, payroll remittances and HST filings. Software used includes but is not limited to: Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online, SAGE 50, AgExpert, and MYOB
- Assist and train clients with their data entry processes to ensure organized and accurate financial records
- Assist clients with specific tasks, such as issuing record of employment, calculating holiday pay, entering year end adjusting journal entries, etc.
- Prepare simple T1 returns, some of which require business or farm statements
- Prepare farm program applications for existing clients based on year-end financial information
- A successful candidate may have opportunities to learn the roles and responsibilities of an accounting technician if mutually agreed upon
Qualifications (all candidates)
- Experience with CaseWare, CaseView and personal and corporate tax software is an asset
- Experience with Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online, SAGE 50 and AgExpert is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work flexible hours and multi-task
- Committed to ongoing professional growth and development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 50 per week
