Job Responsibilities
The Controller manages the accounting, forecasting, budgeting and corporate insurance functions in accordance with Huron Tractor policies, procedures, and requirements.. Responsibilities of this position include:
- Provides assistance to the senior management team including analysis and recommendations to enhance operations and results
- Manages all accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls
- Creates and collaborates on training for financial processes across all departments
- Coordinates and manages preparation of the budget including performing financial analysis and miscellaneous requests for information
- Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, reviews budgeted expenses against actual totals, and suggests methods of improving the budget planning process as appropriate
- Monitors dealership financial metrics
- Creates, manages and prepares internal and external financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, KPI scorecards, reports to stakeholders, tax returns, and reports for governmental regulatory agencies.
- Analyzes company operations to identify opportunities for reduction of expenses
- Manages recruitment and employee development activities for the Accounting Department
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in financial management or accounting
- Understands financial concepts such as budgets, Return on Investment (ROI), Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), and Net Operating Return on Assets (NORA)
- Knowledge of financial principles required for budgeting and strategic planning
- Understands financial statements, cash flow, and key financial ratios
- Understands the integrated systems of internal control and the relationship to disclosure and financial reporting
- Proficient with accounting systems and in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Bachelor Degree in an Accounting/Finance/Business discipline or equivalent experience required.
- CPA designation preferred
