Who we need
We are currently seeking an
Accountant, for a 9 months' contract, who should possess a strong finance background to perform core finance operations activities supporting the business goals of the organization. You will be contributing to the overall success of the organization by effectively executing responsibilities and providing value added activities to meet the Finance and Operational team objectives.
What you will do
- Process Accounts Payable timely and accurately by verifying invoice for accuracy, proper authorization and accurate GL and tax coding;
- Manage vendors in accounting systems by setting up vendor data, answering vendor inquiries, and resolving any discrepancies/issues with vendors;
- Document the AP process and work on continuous process improvement;
- Coordinate all company purchases in SAP and Ariba system, reconcile from Ariba to SAP AP & Treasury, and ensure proper accounting procedure and approval workflows are followed;
- Prepare monthly journal entries and expense accruals;
- Perform account reconciliations, analysis and resolve any discrepancies on time and analyzing transactions to ensure the existence, completeness and accuracy of transactions;
- Assist in intercompany and project expense allocation and ad-hoc expense reports;
- Perform Treasury and other duties as assigned;
- Coordinate with Treasury staff on payment, invoice approval, expense reporting and responding to client inquiries, etc.;
- Support the monthly, quarterly and year-end legal entity financial close and audit processes as needed;
- Identify and streamline processes to improve efficiency and automation;
- Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you will bring
The education. Accounting degree, formal designation or actively pursuing an accounting designation. Completion of University degree in a relevant field.
The experience. Minimum 2 years related experience at a junior to intermediate Accountant role related experience in insurance industry.
The knowledge. Sound knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and the International Financial Reporting Standards. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and process change and implement plans to address those changes. Good knowledge of credit union policies procedures, products and services.
The skills. Solid computer skills, including Microsoft office suite and ability to work with general ledger and functionalities of reporting systems. Familiar with SAP, Ariba, Concur or similar accounting systems is a plus. Strong organizational and analytical skills combined with a good business sense. Strong analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong organizational skills: ability to multi-task, carry a heavy workload, work under pressure and display a high degree of flexibility. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
The drive. Detail and results oriented. Ability to work independently and as a team and professional work ethic.
