Prodigy is searching for a Project Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant will be responsible for timely and accurate accounting and analysis of Project revenue and cost. This role is the primary point of contact and support for project personnel on financial and accounting matters.

As a Project Accountant, you’ll be responsible for:
- Reviews, organizes, follows up and processes supplier & trade invoices for approval and payment as well as reviews Vendor Statements.
- Ensures trades are paying in accordance with payment terms and responds to vendor & trade queries in a timely & effective manner, resolving issues promptly with project management teams.
- Reconciles against contract value (including change orders), processes Subtrade invoices and follows up for insurances, statutory declarations, and lien waivers.
- Responsible for collection of payments (A/R) based on invoices submitted. Sends monthly AR statements to clients for review and payment follow-up, sends copies of any outstanding invoices.
- Assembles client progress billing packages in accordance with approval procedures to ensure our clients are in receipt of billings on a timely basis and payments are received as per contract terms and conditions.
- Responsible for job and financial forecast setup, control, and maintenance activities, as well as month end activities, including cost accruals, revenue recognition, variance analysis, and reconciliation of applicable balance sheet accounts.
- Responsible for recording transactions, posting entries, preparing month-end close and internal financial reports.
- Responsible for bank and general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
- Prepares financial reports and tracks project costs to budget and analyzes/ explains variances.
About You:
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A Diploma of Collegial Studies and an Undergraduate/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years experience within the construction industry is a requirement.
- Must be Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Must have a knowledge of ERP systems and Jonas Premier would be considered an asset.
- Must have Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Must show demonstrated knowledge of best practices in accounts receivables, accounts payables, reconciliations, and audit trails.
- Demonstrates a willingness to adapt, improvise, and remain flexible in response to evolving circumstances.
- Must have exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
