Job Overview
The HR Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the HR department, ensuring the efficient operation of HR functions and processes. This role involves coordinating various HR activities, managing employee records, assisting with recruitment, supporting employee relations initiatives and payroll administration. The HR Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a positive workplace environment and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with administrative functions, including employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including scheduling meetings, preparing HR documents, and handling correspondence.
- Assist with the full cycle recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications, etc.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing offer letters, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring all required documentation is completed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in both electronic and paper formats
- Support compliance with labor laws and company policies, including tracking employee certifications and training requirements.
- Organize and execute employee engagement initiatives and events as required.
- Assist with special HR projects and initiatives as needed.
- Conducting the health and safety meetings, inspections, minutes, preparing agenda and presentations, maintaining health and safety records and coordinating annual training for staff and assist with Co-Chair duties and/or act as Co-Chair for the health and safety committee, following up on recommendations, request for information and ensure that all health and safety concerns are promptly addressed.
- Serve as a Backup to the HR Generalist, performing their duties in their absence
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Education
- College diploma/University degree in Human Resources, or related field of study
- PCP or CHRP certification is an asset
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in an HR administrative role or similar position.
- Comprehensive up to date knowledge of federal and provincial tax regulations, employment and labor law, including the employment standard and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now Payroll system is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication (Written & Verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.
- Proactive and strong teamwork approach, good interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws required and ability to stay current on legislation changes
- Ability to manage difficult and sensitive issues in a professional manner, assertive manner
- Excellent attention to detail, data entry, time management and organizational skills
