Our well-established and industry leading client is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate processing of payroll transactions while reviewing, implementing and maintaining ongoing processes and procedures to improve efficiency. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards across multiple provinces. They will embrace change and have a knack for identifying areas of improvement. - Prepare and process full cycle weekly payroll and assist with semi-monthly salaried payroll
- Assist the payroll administrators with their daily and weekly tasks
- Review, improve and maintain payroll processes to ensure accurate payroll transactions and adherence to external/internal policies and audit requirements
- Identify areas for improvements and assist with the implementation of new payroll processes and systems
- Assist with payroll remittances, including source deductions and workers compensation
- Assist with ad hoc reports, T4 filings and ROE’s
- Assist with general ledger payroll reconciliations
- Respond to payroll related inquiries

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) and/or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation
- Minimum 4+ years of progressive payroll experience
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards
- High level of accuracy and good problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
