Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, performing various clerical and accounting tasks such as data management and keeping employee information that is relevant to payroll purposes up to date. As someone privy to employees' information, the Payroll Specialist is required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner. The Payroll Specialist is a member of the accounting team and works closely with Human Resources as required.

What you offer
General Responsibilities:
- Payroll Input, Analysis, Balancing, Posting, Remittances
- Data entries into Dayforce
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees, as well as commission and bonus payments
- Maintain proper paper filing system
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
- Manage and calculate taxes and deductions
- Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes etc.
- Calculate termination and severance payments
- Revise all increases or changes in employees’ rates of pay within the payroll system
- Review and correct discrepancies with attendance on a daily basis
- Ensure all information received from managers for data entry prior to submitting payroll- this includes Manager’s Attendance Records, employee bonus sheets, etc.
- Maintain attendance records for each employee (recording of sick days, vacation days, emergency leaves, bereavement leaves, etc).
- Ensure all terminated or new employees are deleted/added to payroll system. Work with Human Resources in order to ensure proper documentation received and on file.
- Answer all employee inquiries regarding their pay/deductions and direct to HR
- Balance and post insurance plan premiums changes as required to payroll deductions
- Obtain from Accounts Receivable any employee amounts charged to their account, ensuring employee has signed authorization for deductions
- Ensure accuracy of payroll
- Process vacation pay requests as applicable
- Balance T4 slips at year end
- Issue records of employment, as required
- Prepare payroll statistics for Government as required
- Ensure vacation pay is in accordance with policy and legislation
- Prepare any manual cheques as required
- Notify immediate supervisor of any payroll procedures which are not adhered to by management or staff
- Prepare month-end reports to assist controllers with financial statement preparation (WSIB, vacation accrual, time away from work)
Other Duties
- Keep apprised of legislative changes
- Participate in training and/or professional development
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the Tony Graham Automotive Group
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation (i.e., Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, Highway Traffic Act, etc.)
- Any other responsibilities as required and/or as assigned
The successful candidate will have the following:
Education and Qualification
- Minimum 2-3 years of Payroll experience
- Completion of College Diploma (Business Administration specializing in Payroll, Accounting), or equivalent
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certified or working towards
- Level 2 Police Record Check is a condition of employment
- Knowledge of Privacy Legislation and adherence to confidentiality
- Knowledge of applicable legislation (ex. Employment Standards Act, 2000)
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word) and various payroll software programs (Dayforce, Ceridian)
Language
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Bilingualism, an asset

Schedule:
Monday – Friday:
8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Pay Structure:
$60,000 - $65,000 Annually
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
