Canadian Payroll Intern
The Payroll Intern is responsible for supporting the day-to-day payroll operations, preparing and reviewing regulatory reporting, assessing and establishing internal controls, evaluating current payroll operations, offering recommendations for process improvement, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The role is primarily focused on assisting with the preparation and processing of the salaried and hourly payrolls – Canada, USA, Spain and UK.

Reviewing and updating our current T2200 (Declaration of Conditions of Employment) process to create a positive employee experience. This will involve working with Humans Resources and Finance (AP) to design and automate a workflow that is efficient and accurate. Once complete, the new process will be rolled out to the Canadian employees for the 2024 tax year forms. The student will be the owner of this project.

Learning all aspects of payroll, including payroll entries, new hires, tax forms, direct deposits, salary updates, voluntary and non-voluntary deductions, garnishments, PTO, leaves of absence and terminations.

Supporting the monthly payroll reconciliation process performed by Corporate Controllers for the various business units within Harris.

Assisting with potential Mergers & Acquisitions by assisting with Payroll due diligence, onboarding newly acquired employees, etc.

Assisting with the implementation of the new UK payroll platform with Ceridian Dayforce. We will be migrating 350 UK employees from ADP to DayForce for an April 2025 GO-LIVE.

Reconciling differences between WorkDay (HR system of Record) and Ceridian DayForce (Payroll system) to ensure the data in both are in-synch. Working with appropriate resources to correct inconsistencies.
