A client of ours in the Non for Profit sector is looking to add a Payroll/AR Specialist to their Finance team. This is a full-time/permanent position on site.

Responsibilities:Payroll:
- Support the payroll process for all employees in a unionized/non-unionized environment
- Entering and maintaining employee database information related to the payroll function
- Managing accruals for seniority, vacation time, overtime and statutory holidays
- Advising on pension issues and managing employee enrollments and updates
- Issuing and reconciling pay stubs, T4 Statements of Remuneration, Records of Employment and other official documentation
- Liaising closely with HR, Scheduling, Program Supervisors and pension provider
- Prepare payroll reports and analytics
- Review all input, transactions, and deposits for completeness and correctness
- Act as point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries
- Respond to a wide range of ad-hoc information requests
- Ensure organization’s compliance with internal and external requirements
- Performs other duties and completes additional projects as assigned, commensurate with job knowledge and experience
Accounts Receivable:
- Maintain accounts receivable records
- Perform data entry associated with accounts receivable, including new customer set up
- Maintain precise records of all incoming payments
- Prepare and send invoices to customers
- Review and reconcile internal invoice discrepancies, follow up to ensure accuracy and information
- Track and follow up with customers to ensure payment of outstanding invoices
- Generate and deliver reports to different departments as required
- Actively investigate and resolve irregularities for incoming payments
Qualifications:
- Must have two Covid vaccine doses
- Must be willing to work fully on site
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, payroll or related field
- 2+years of payroll and accounts receivable experience
- 1+ years experience with Sage300
- Proven experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
- Experience with a not-for-profit organization would be considered an asset
- Solid analytical experience and problem-solving skills combined with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, handle conflict and manage stressful situations
- Advanced communication skills and the ability to handle potentially challenging interactions
- Self-motivation, flexibility and ability to manage shifting priorities
- Advanced technical and reporting skills
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resources Information Systems with Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
