The Role
The General Accountant is in communication with the Corporate Controller. The General Accountant performs a variety of accounting functions. To contribute to the overall effectiveness of the established quality system, the General Accountant also has the following specific responsibilities:
- Accounts payable functions – booking invoices, investigating billing discrepancies, reconciliation of supplier/vendor accounts
- Responsible for compiling and uploading weekly pay runs to the bank
- Performing weekly bank reconciliations
- Assisting in closing of month and year ends
- Maintaining good communication with all department personnel
- Providing coverage to other accounting areas as required
- Championing other ad hoc projects as required
- Providing coverage to other accounting areas as required
- Ensuring records and associated filing systems are well organized and maintained
- Carrying out other administrative tasks as required but are not specifically notes above as directed by the Accounting Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Completed high school. Working towards an degree or designation.
- 3+ years work experience in the finance, accounting or related field.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Self motivated and exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills.
