The Role

The General Accountant is in communication with the Corporate Controller. The General Accountant performs a variety of accounting functions. To contribute to the overall effectiveness of the established quality system, the General Accountant also has the following specific responsibilities:

Accounts payable functions – booking invoices, investigating billing discrepancies, reconciliation of supplier/vendor accounts
Responsible for compiling and uploading weekly pay runs to the bank
Performing weekly bank reconciliations
Assisting in closing of month and year ends
Maintaining good communication with all department personnel
Providing coverage to other accounting areas as required
Championing other ad hoc projects as required
Providing coverage to other accounting areas as required
Ensuring records and associated filing systems are well organized and maintained
Carrying out other administrative tasks as required but are not specifically notes above as directed by the Accounting Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Completed high school. Working towards an degree or designation.
3+ years work experience in the finance, accounting or related field.
Intermediate computer skills.
Self motivated and exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills.
