Job Overview:
The employer is seeking a talented Payroll Administrator for their office located in Ottawa, Ontario (Gloucester based office). The successful candidate will be responsible for the helping to prepare, validate, and execute biweekly payrolls. The tasks will include the need to work directly with Managers, Operations, Head Office, and individual employees. It will also require setting up new employees in the system, make required changes, monitor employee benefits in system, and terminate or adjust as required. There will also be a component of helping processing accounts payable for processing month ends, and some ad hoc minor bookkeeping needs depending on what the accounting department requires.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Must be able to currently have or attain a Government of Canada Reliability clearance
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English and French
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all (400+) hourly employees
- Help setup employee profiles and ensure new employees are familiar with Ceridian Dayforce app and requesting vacation time, personal days, etc.
- Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and other deductions
- Assist Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable administrators as needed
- Perform month end, quarter end and year-end procedures as required in assistance to Office Controller
- Extract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracy using 1st and second level audit procedures
- Work with HR to insure all new on-boards and terminations are properly processed
- Create required internal management reports from the payroll system
- Maintain employee profiles, ensuring that they are up to date
- Administer benefit payments
- Stay current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods
- Respond to employee and government agency inquiries with respect to payroll
- Ensure the creation and timely distribution of T4s and ROE’s working with Ceridian
- Other Duties as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must currently have or be able to attain a Government Reliability security clearance. Must have 5 years solid residency in Canada without any significant gaps
- Bilingualism is essential for communication with employees (French & English)
- Experience with a Payroll processing system such as Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll, payroll tax laws and payroll processing procedures an asset
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required
- Must have excellent oral and written skills in both French and English
- Good time management skills

- Able to maintain confidential information
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Diploma or Degree in relevant field an asset
Working Conditions:
This role requires work onsite at the company Head Office in Ottawa, Ontario. This position generally works Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm Eastern time.
