We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Surrey, BC team. This role involves close collaboration with the Finance Director, Controller, and Administrative Team to maintain accurate financial operations and support our company’s continued growth.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional who ensures accuracy in financial records, compliance with regulations, and efficiency in financial operations. Working closely with the Finance Director and Controller, you will play a critical role in managing day-to-day financial tasks and supporting broader strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Maintain and reconcile accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank accounts.
- Process payroll for Canadian employees; familiarity with US payroll is a valuable asset.
- Prepare and issue invoices, ensuring compliance with established workflows and controls.
- Monitor cash flow, manage vendor payments, and support budget tracking.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Generate monthly financial reports, including cash flow statements, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with year-end preparations, audits, and other compliance-related tasks.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work closely with the Finance Director, Controller, and Administrative Team to optimize financial processes.
- Collaborate with teams across multiple locations, including Calgary and Tulare, California, to align financial operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy.
Training & Support:
- Provide financial guidance to other departments as needed.
- Support administrative staff in understanding financial processes and reports.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing or related industry.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 is required.
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with Canadian payroll (mandatory) and US payroll systems (an asset).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
