The accounting assistant works closely with and under the supervision of the accountants. This role supports the accountants in managing the financial control of multiple non-union film productions to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting and effective cost management of productions.
Responsibilities:
· Support the production and corporate accountants with their responsibilities such as maintaining records and preparing cost reports.
· Assist with inputting supplier invoices on a weekly basis ensuring accuracy in data entry including the proper allocation of expenses to Manitoba labour to support the application of the tax credits.
· Communicate with cast and crew and the production manager on a regular basis.
· Prepare weekly bank reconciliations.
· Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations including investigation and resolution of any variances.
· Monthly intercompany accounts receivable to accounts payable reconciliations for all related party transactions.
· Manage and prepare reconciliations for the 12 corporate credit cards, including regular communication with cardholders.
· Monthly review of project revenue reports to ensure all invoicing has been assigned to a project.
· Assist with setting up new Sage50 accounting files for production companies.
· Assist with projects and workflow for both production and corporate entities as required.
· Ordering all office supplies as required.
· Prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
The ideal candidate will:
· Be a fast learner and multi-task workflow on multiple productions.
· Be able to work with minimal supervision under pressure with strict deadlines.
· Possess excellent communication and people skills.
Required experience / Professional skills:
· Must thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
· Ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively as part of the production team and corporate accounting team.
· Must exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.
· Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· 3+ years of accounting experience.
· Knowledge of film production and film accounting is preferred.
· At a minimum, the completion of a bookkeeping course or diploma is required.
· Knowledge of Sage 50 software is preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs.
