Position: Experienced Accounting Technician

We are seeking a motivated accounting technician to join the team for a full-time position with opportunities for career growth in a supportive and dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities:

Maintain Financial Records: Accurately record and update financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and Caseware).
General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation of accounts.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, ensure timely payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile company bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and employee benefit deductions.
Financial Reporting: Generate financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements for management review.
Tax Compliance: Assist with preparing and filing GST/HST, PST, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings in a timely manner.
Month-End and Year-End Closures: Assist in closing monthly books, preparing supporting documentation for year-end financials.
Client Communication: Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
Support to Accounting Team: Assist accountants with preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
Maintain Documentation: Ensure that all financial records are filed properly, maintained securely, and are available at client requests.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in accounting systems and reporting.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting or professional services environment.
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and strong Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential financial information.
Understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational and prioritizing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
