Position: Experienced Accounting Technician

We are seeking a motivated accounting technician to join the team for a full-time position with opportunities for career growth in a supportive and dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Financial Records: Accurately record and update financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and Caseware).
- General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation of accounts.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, ensure timely payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile company bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and employee benefit deductions.
- Financial Reporting: Generate financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements for management review.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with preparing and filing GST/HST, PST, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings in a timely manner.
- Month-End and Year-End Closures: Assist in closing monthly books, preparing supporting documentation for year-end financials.
- Client Communication: Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Support to Accounting Team: Assist accountants with preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
- Maintain Documentation: Ensure that all financial records are filed properly, maintained securely, and are available at client requests.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in accounting systems and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and strong Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential financial information.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
