This position will be primarily focused on full-cycle payroll processing and being the main contact for payroll. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who has several years of payroll experience and is looking to expand their knowledge and experience in payroll. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and work closely with the administration team.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Process full cycle payroll processing; ensuring all payroll activities comply with legislation, including adherence to tax legislation and wage/hour guidelines.
- Conduct end-to-end payroll processing for employees on various compensation models
- Payroll year-end duties, such as YTD reconciliations and yearend tax document preparation
- Oversee new employee setup within the payroll system, update personnel records, and handle terminations with prompt Record of Employment completion.
- Serve as the initial contact for all payroll-related inquiries, assisting managers with timecard validations and supporting employee questions.
- Reconcile remittances to government agencies and local taxes
- Prepare and submit AP requests for various payments relating to the processing of payroll
- Oversee comprehensive employee benefits, including health, AD&D, and additional voluntary options, ensuring accurate enrollment and updating of benefits.
- Focus on continuous improvement to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Assist with ADHOC Payroll reporting
- Other duties in support of payroll functions and other tasks may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Payroll Org Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
- Previous experience in payroll working with a computerized payroll system
- Experience with Canadian full cycle, payroll processing included all year end duties
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- Knowledge related to payroll preparation and related recordkeeping
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key groups including internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication skills written and verbal
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established datelines
- Attention to detail, excellent accuracy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to deal with confidential information
- Accounting experience an asset
