The Job:
This is a newly created, part-time contract position with the mandate of streamlining and maintaining the bookkeeping functions within the company and it’s affiliate companies. We are excited for you to bring your experience, knowledge and skills to OceanFront and dive into how you can have a lasting impact within our Operations Department.
Your mission will be to streamline our bookkeeping processes and systems to improve accuracy and efficiencies. You will leverage technology to automate bookkeeping workflows and create meaningful reports, and you will approach challenges with an innovative and strategic mindset.
Day in the life looks like:
- Financial record-keeping in a cloud-based ecosystem for various entities including processing of payables, receivables and payroll and recording of general journal entries
- Completion of bank and other account reconciliations
- Preparation and payment of GST filing
- Preparation and generation of monthly reporting packages
- Communication with Executive Team to ensure accurate, timely and complete reporting
- Development of documentation of bookkeeping workflows
- Preparation for Year-End Financial Audit in collaboration with our Auditing accountants
- Expense tracking and entry
- Supervision of the accounts general email inbox, distributing correspondence to appropriate team members, and responding to emails in a timely and efficient manner;
- Support Executives with ad hoc requests related to corporate finance and ;
- Provide support to other departments as assigned.
Who you are:
- You love numbers and the satisfaction that comes from balancing financial accounts;
- You have previously worked as a bookkeeper and have at least 2 years’ experience with full cycle bookkeeping in BC;
- You have a strong drive for accuracy and flawless execution;
- You love the nitty-gritty details and enjoy making things efficient;
- You use checklists and systems in your daily life and love the way it feels to cross off your todos;
- You believe that your work should be enjoyable and fun most of the time, and that your environment should provide you with the intellectual and social stimulation that you need to feel fulfilled;
- You exhibit superb communication skills, both in person and over the phone, in messaging systems and via email;
- You embrace change and see it as an opportunity rather than an obstacle;
- You are collaborative in nature, but once you understand what is being asked of you, you are capable of running with the projects and duties you are assigned.
- Finally, you can maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism, and enjoy supporting others.
Qualifications:
Must-haves:
- 3+ years experience working as a full-cycle bookkeeper or accountant.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and attentive to details.
- Tech savvy and enjoy learning new systems.
- Expert knowledge of Quickbooks Online.
- Experience with CRM system (i.e. Salesforce).
- Be able to work in-office at least 2 days per week in our downtown office.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working in wealth management or other regulated industry is a huge plus.
- Experience working with Fathom software.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM.
- Familiarity with IFRS.
- Post-secondary degree or certification in bookkeeping, accounting or finance.
The Package:
Base salary:
Starting salary range is $35,000.00 - $37,000.00 per year (minimum 20 hours/week with potential for more hours over time if the business requires)
Hours:
Tuesday to Thursday (exact hours TBD based on successful candidate).
Bonus:
Eligibility to participate in our performance-based bonus program after successful completion of contract period.
Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP):
Eligibility to participate in our 100% Employer funded DPSP after completion of contract period.
Health:
Eligibility to participate in our extended health and dental benefits after successful completion of contract period.
