We are seeking an individual interested in a long-term career in public practice with our firm. The successful candidate will assist with bookkeeping, compilations, and related corporate and individual tax returns for small to medium-sized enterprises. As an accounting technician, your responsibilities will include:
· Preparation of working papers for compilation engagements, including preparation of financial statements;
· Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns;
· Preparation of bookkeeping which may include:
o Reconciling balance sheet accounts;
o Recording journal entries;
o Preparing payroll;
o Filing of GST / PST returns for clients;
o Assess fixed assets and depreciation;
o Examine financial records and transactions;
· Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems and other general office duties.
The successful candidate will have:
· Education in an accounting program or experience in a public accounting role ;
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with all members of our team, clients, and others;
· Strong general familiarity with Windows computers and office technology;
· A working knowledge of the following software is beneficial but is not essential:
o CaseWare
o Microsoft Office
o Taxprep
o QuickBooks
o Sage 50 Accounting;
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and present a professional image in a business casual environment;
