Temporary Human Resource Services Generalist
Full-Time - 35 Hours Per Week - 12 Months per Year Position (1.0 FTE)
Start Date: Immediately; Duration: Approximately 6 Months
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking a full-time Human Resource Services Generalist that is an organized and efficient self-starter who will provide a sophisticated level of support to the Human Resource Services department using their excellent analytical skills and advanced abilities in a computerized environment. This position is accountable to the Manager of Human Resource Services and is an integral member of the Human Resource Services team.
This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Support the administration of the recruitment and selection process including preparing job postings, liaising with advertising representatives to facilitate external job advertisements, manage the casual and occasional recruitment and selection process, provide administrative support for interviews and testing, drafting and distributing correspondence, monitoring completion of the pre-hire conditions, maintenance of records, and new employee onboarding.
Monitor, update, maintain, and process personnel and payroll changes in accordance with Collective Agreement and Terms of Employment in adherence to pay deadlines. Maintain accurate employee records using the Human Resources Information System.
Monitor the submission and reconciliation of attendance reporting and usage for all employee groups, including follow-up as needed.
Provide leave and vacation entitlement information to supervisors and employees in accordance with Collective Agreement and Terms of Employment, as applicable.
Provide administrative support for all labour relations functions including collective bargaining, the grievance and arbitration process, research, preparation of correspondence related to labour relations issues and confidential personnel matters, assisting in preparing proposals for negotiations, and updating Collective Agreement upon settlement of negotiations.
Maintain and disseminate supply lists for all employee groups, according to required timelines, as stipulated in the Collective Agreements.
Provide administrative support to the Board's attendance support and disability management programs for both occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational illnesses and/or disabilities, as required.
Conduct research and extract and analyze data, as requested.
Prepare and create a wide variety of ad-hoc and recurring reports, correspondence, and other documents for both internal and external stakeholders including the Ministry and Unions.
Perform general administrative services for the Human Resource Services department, including maintaining personnel and other files, responding to various telephone inquiries, and maintaining the Human Resource Services section on the Board's intranet.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess:
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources Management or a related discipline.
A minimum of three (3) years of professional Human Resources experience. School Board experience and working in a unionized environment is an asset.
Completion of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred.
Excellent abilities in a computerized environment utilizing MS Office suite of tools and Human Resource Information Systems. Experience with electronic filing systems is an asset.
Excellent interpersonal skills exhibiting confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution and issue-based problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated strength in relationship building and promotion of a collaborative culture with the ability to function effectively with administrators, staff, unions, outside agencies, and others.
Excellent planning and organizational skills with significant experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully complete tasks.
Ability to work in a busy and high-pressure environment and prioritize and manage multiple assignments/projects with similar deadlines.
Comprehensive knowledge of related employment legislation and human resources subject matter.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
