Position Overview
The Operations Financial Analyst will evaluate financial data by collecting, monitoring and creating financial models to support informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing insights to management through recommendations to improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring trends, variances and key indicators. Assist and suggest revenue and costs for the annual budget and monthly forecasting. Support the many departments in the Forterra Pipe & Precast organization. This position offers the chance to contribute to the continued success and growth of our organization by playing a key role in financial planning and analysis
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Perform financial analysis by collecting, monitoring and reviewing current and past results.
- Review, analyze and ensure accuracy of monthly financial results (P&L), in collaboration with corporate accounting
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts and financial models, in coordination with the VP/GM, based on current results and strategic objectives.
- Prepare and present monthly financial performance reports to the VP/GM, VP of Finance, and President, providing detailed explanations.
- Compile, maintain and submit monthly reports, including summaries of results using tools like pivot tables, to meet Corporate reporting requirements and objectives.
- Collect and report sales and production data to the CCPPA monthly and other stakeholders as needed.
Operational Support & Administrative
- Provide support and training to office/plant on JDE, excel, Power BI and other relevant tools.
- Support various departments (VP/GM, VP of Ops, Plant Supervisors, Corporate Finance, Credit team, etc.) with reporting and/or analysis requests.
- Oversee all month-end functions are carried out by various departments to comply with company policies.
- Manage backlog data for production decisions and corporate review, ensuring accuracy and system updates.
- Calculate, coordinate and enter new pricing based on VP/GM decisions, and address pricing discrepancies with customers when necessary.
- Review and reconcile plant cash sale accounts to ensure proper collection and application of CODs.
- Communicate and enforce that all departments in Canada Pipe & Precast comply with all Quikrete polices.
- Complete and compile various month-end reports for different CP&P departments/locations.
- Complete and send JV expenses and monthly payroll amount to both corporate accounting and CSI.
- Develop and maintain procedures for handling competitor purchases to ensure accurate invoicing and interdepartmental coordination
Additional Duties
- Participate in training, meetings, etc. as required.
- Support financial audits, as needed, by preparing and validating data as required.
- Special Projects to meet corporate objectives
- Serve as backup for A/P, sales order pricing, credit card processing, and depot BOL entry as needed.
- Other daily tasks as required.
Essential Requirements & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role, industry experience is an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Comfortable analyzing complex data sets and presenting findings clearly.
- Detail oriented with strong mathematical and accounting skills.
- Ability to work with and communicate with all levels of management, various corporate departments and support staff.
