Job Posting 24-217 100% Permanent Payroll and Benefits Clerk Location: Catholic Education Centre, 255 Speedvale Ave W., Guelph Start Date: asap Schedule: 34.5 hours per week 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am-4:00pm Friday Grade 3 : $57,259 - $71,573 The successful candidate will report to the Supervisor of Payroll and Accounting, and have responsibility for preparation and processing of biweekly payrolls, and benefit & pension administration, ensuring that accurate and timely payroll services are delivered in compliance with Board payroll processes and policies, Government requirements, and Union Collective Agreements. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: · Responsible for completion of the full payroll cycle for various union and non-union employees using a computerized payroll system, processing bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on-time according to payroll scheduling and processing timelines · Assist with processing Records of Employment (ROEs) as required · Reconcile and prepare remittances for payroll deduction accounts · Assist with year-end payroll processing and reconciliations and audit requests as required · Update and maintain payroll and benefit files according to statutory regulations and Board retention schedules · Maintain, process, and reconcile employee information changes from HRIS for administration and submission to external benefit providers · Participate in internal and external payroll audits as required · Prepare ad-hoc reports as required · Assist with pension administration · Respond to queries from Board personnel on payroll and benefit matters, and communicate with outside agencies such as CRA, Service Canada, and benefit providers · Provide backup coverage and support to other payroll staff · Perform other administrative duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: · A post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field such as Accounting or Business Administration. An equivalent combination of related experience may be considered.
- Canadian Payroll Association membership & Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate considered an asset · A minimum of 2 years progressive experience in related payroll, benefits, accounting in a large, unionized organization preferable · Knowledge of payroll legislation, relevant legislation (i.e. the Income Tax Act, CPP Act, Pension Benefits Act, OMERS Act, Ontario Teachers Pension Act, and familiarity with collective agreements.) · Experience working in a computerized environment, proficient in utilizing payroll applications and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). · Advanced skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. Experience in Power BI for data analysis and reporting would be an asset.
- Strong ability to navigate internet resources and manage professional communications via email effectively. · Strong analytical and mathematical skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail · Time management and ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet frequent and strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment · Excellent organizational skills, communication and customer service skills.
