Our client, a junior public uranium exploration company, is focused on the exploration and development of uranium projects in the Athabasca Basin of Saskatchewan, Canada. The company's flagship project is the Hook Lake Joint Venture located near recent high-grade uranium discoveries.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance will take a lead role in the operations and structure of the finance and administration function of the company. This role will provide and set a comprehensive financial and management accounting service to all functional areas of the company, ensuring appropriate financial corporate policies, guidelines and procedures are maintained.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Collaborate with CEO in preparation of quarterly FP&A and Board reporting.
- Oversee and manage all accounting, auditing and finance related compliance functions related to the company.
- Oversee day to day accounting of the company
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP and applicable federal, provincial, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
- Lead the budget and forecasting processes
- With help of external consultants, manage income tax filing process and ensure tax compliance.
- Ensure all risks are adequately identified and insured
- Manage the treasury process including foreign exchange management and cash flow
- Work with external audit partners to ensure compliance with appropriate statutory requirements
- Provide relevant reporting and analysis of existing business and new opportunities including analysis of current returns on capital, risk levels, setting target returns, strategic analysis etc.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve revenue profit performance (KPIs, continuous improvement programs)
- Deliver business analysis supporting the board presentations, accounting and other regular company reporting
- Coordinate all regulatory tax income tax and premium filings.
- Actively monitor and control all ledger reconciliations and trial balance sign off.
- Maintain and recommend improvements to key operational processes (minimize process risk).
