Purpose:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for ensuring the financial health and well-being of the organization is maintained, in order for Miziwe Biik to achieve its mission of providing training and employment services to the Aboriginal peoples in the Greater Toronto Area so that they attain a better quality of life.

Executive Director, Nancy Martin
Responsibilities:
Be responsible for overall financial planning and cash flow management of the organization.Develop annual budgets and prepare budget submissions to the Executive Director.Administer organization’s annual budget and ensure compliance with spending guidelines.Prepare cash flow projections and supporting documentation for contract renewals to funders.Post payroll to the general ledger.Ensure all filing systems with supporting financial documentation are properly maintained by project officers to support program expenditures.Liaise with bankers, auditors, insurance brokers, tax authorities, and other professionals as required.Maintain all accounts using Sage 300 accounting software.Perform all data entry and issuing of cheques for signatures by designated signatories.Review all contract documents and cheque requisitions presented for signature to designated signatories.Prepare and make all bank deposits and reconcile all bank accounts monthly.Prepare financial claim reports and submission of same to funders for reimbursement.Prepare quarterly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors and provide additional information upon request.Ensuring that appropriate accounts are charged, balanced, and managed.Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.Prepare all financial documentation for the Annual Audit and Annual General meeting.File documents pertaining to the corporate finances.Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
Post secondary education with 3-5 years financial management experience.Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.Complete familiarity with organization’s accounting system (Sage 300).Ability to work within and contribute to a team environment.Ability to exercise professional judgement in a highly confidential environment.Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines.Proficiency in MS Office – Strong excel skills.First Nations, Metis, or Inuit background preferred.
