JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the weekly payroll, including hourly, salary, union/non-union employees, is processed within established timelines outlined in payroll policies, collective agreements and business requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Set up new hires, department codes, process employee changes, terminations, leaves of absence, travel allowances, garnishments and other miscellaneous paperwork.
· Review inquiries to the Payroll inbox. Investigate inquiries and take necessary actions to resolve them.
· Responsible to check the accuracy of all timecards, travel cards, and adjustments summary sheets. Verify and ensure entitlement for overtime, shift premiums, interpreted accurately according to union agreements.
· Provide payroll support to employees and supervisors where needed.
· Review and verify employee changes and payroll changes for accuracy.
· Review hours worked and ensure all hours are approved
· Maintain processing schedules and checklists
· Review reports to ensure the integrity and completeness of payroll information, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
· In coordination with the Payroll Manager, look for ways to streamline and optimize payroll processes.
· Partner with the Payroll Manager in payroll year-end processes
· File employee paperwork as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience with ADP WFN is required.
· Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in processing unionized payroll
· Proficient with MS Office, specifically excel.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Must be forward thinking and able to adapt to change.
· Strong attention to detail and a consistent high level of accuracy
· Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, within tight deadlines and to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a hands-on approach.
· Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
