Job Description: As our Remote Bookkeeper/Controller, you will manage all aspects of our company's financial operations, from day-to-day bookkeeping to high-level financial strategy. This role requires a blend of hands-on accounting skills, strategic financial management, and proficiency with digital tools and integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
- Maintain accurate financial records using Plooto, Dext, and QuickBooks Online
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage cash flow and banking relationships
- Develop and maintain budgets, providing variance analysis and forecasts
- Implement and maintain internal controls and financial procedures
- Assist with tax planning and preparation
- Provide financial insights and reports to support management decision-making
- Enhance administrative and office systems to improve overall efficiency
- Assist with HR functions, including job postings and hiring processes
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the organization
- Continuously optimize and integrate digital tools to streamline financial processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the landscaping or construction industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations
- Proficiency in Plooto, Dext, and QuickBooks Online is required
- Knowledge of LMN
- Experience with construction companies preferred
- Experience with the Landscape industry is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with digital integrations
- Experience with job costing and project-based accounting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Quick learner with exceptional computer skills
- CPA designation preferred but not required
Additional Requirements:
- Must reside in the Comox Valley or Metro Vancouver area
- This position is initially remote but may transition to a hybrid work arrangement in the future
- Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings or site visits
