Junior Accountant
Gillian Segal Design is a boutique design firm offering a full range of Interior Design services, specializing in luxury residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our small and dynamic interior design firm. This is a full time, hybrid role.
Reporting directly to the Owner and CFO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate & timely accounting, managing payroll, overseeing accounts receivable & invoicing, and completing month-end processes.

Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records of the Company, including all daily transactions.
- Process payroll and benefits for employees, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage accounts receivable (A/R), including invoicing for designers billable hours and furniture & fixtures, including following up on outstanding invoices.
- Manage month-end procedures, including reconciliations, reporting & analysis.
- Manage tax compliance for GST, WCB, EHT, PST and income tax.
- Manage accounts payable (A/P), ensuring timely payment of vendor & contractor invoices.
- Prepare and process journal entries for month end and year end.
- Collaborate with designers on project budgets to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
- Assist designers with furniture & fixtures ordering, as required.
- Report on weekly cash balances and forecast.
- Collaborate with the CFO on financial analysis and reporting.
- Provide support on annual company forecast.
- Provide support with annual year end and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all financial matters.
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in a small business environment.
- Proficiency in accounting & related software (e.g., QBO, DesignerLogic, Wagepoint, Harvest) and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and accrual accounting.
- Growth mindset and continuous improvement outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, open minded and desire/ability to work collaboratively with the team.
- Strong desire to grow, develop and use progressive accounting processes.
- Love of design a plus!

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
